Solution

Here’s how to construct an ODT template using background images with Carbone.

To design the form, use background images and place text boxes and checkboxes on top.

1. Insert all background images

   For the first page:

   • Right-click on the page.
   • Select Page Style....
   • Go to the Area tab.
   • Click Add/Import and select the background image for the first page.
   • Under options, select the Stretched style.
   • Click OK.

   If the form has multiple pages, create a different page style for each one so each page can have its own background image:

   • Open the Styles panel (View > Styles).
   • Click the Page Styles icon (the fourth icon, which looks like a small page).
   • Right-click an existing page style (for example, Default Page Style) and select New....
   • In the General tab, provide a unique Name.
   • In the Area tab, click Image, then use the Add/Import button to select the background image.
   • Under options, choose the Stretched style, then click OK.

   Repeat this process to create a different page style for each additional page of the form.

   Next, to assign a background style to each page, place the cursor at the beginning of the first page and follow these steps:

   • Select Insert > More Breaks > Manual Break....
   • Select Page break.
   • Choose the appropriate style from the Page Style list.
   • Click OK.

   Repeat these steps to insert manual page breaks and assign a page style for each page of the form.

2. Design

   Finally, insert textboxes and checkboxes

And there you go!

Extra tip / Layout

• To remove the borders of the text boxes:
  • right-click on the text box,
  • select Control Properties from the submenu,
  • go to the General tab,
  • scroll to Border,
  • select Without frame.
• Don't copy and paste checkboxes in the template unless you assign a different Label to each one.
